- The name of my Townland is Rossmore and my Parish is Ballyfin. I am in the barony of Maryborough west.
In the Townland there are nine families and about forty-nine people. No family name appears more than once. There is one slated house in the district and the remaining eight are thatched. There was probably a wood in the district in which the Townland got its name.
There are three old people living there but they are not regarded as story-tellers. In former days a man named John Dunne emigrated to America. As far as I can find out the Townland is not mentioned in any song.
The Catholes river divides Capard from our district in which there is a waterfall further down. To my knowledge there are no streams that have any stories connected with them.- Collector
