When a man asks a certain amount of money for a beast and the buyer does not want to give it, the buyer says "Divide the difference." That is how they start to make the bargain. Fairs are held in Carlow, Athy, Abbyleix, Castlecomer and Ballinakill once a month. Three pence has to be paid on every animal entering the fair in Carlow. The cattle are marked when they are sold.
