The sun:
When the sun rises in a grey sky and sits in a red sky it is the surest sign of fine weather. If the morning sky is red and it is grey in the evening it is a sign of rain.
Animals.
When the horses stand with their backs to the ditch it is the sign of wet weather.

There is an old proverb concerning trees,
