  1. Marriages most frequently take place locally during the seasons of Shrove and Summer.
    The month of May is considered an unlucky month for marriages to take place also Friday is thought an unlucky day.
    There are no local customs connected with Shrove except on Shrove Tuesday the custom is for everyone to eat pancakes.
    There are matches made in this district. Money is usually given as dowry. Stock or goods are sometimes given in lieu of money.
    In this district people do not remember marriages ever taking places in houses.
