- The following is a list of the farm and domestic animals at home, Cat, dog, pigs, cows, calves and horses. The cows have nearly all got names. For example Strawberry, Stocking-foot, White-foot, Broad-horn, Curly-mac.
When driving the cows to be milked people say "bail up" "bail up".When calves are being fed they are called by "suck" "Suck".The cowhouse is a long low house. There is room in it for ten cows. The cows are tied by chains. They are always tied by the neck. In some places cows are fastened by bails instead of by chains. When a cow is fastened by bails her head is put between two pieces of wood which are fastened together over her neck so that she cannot draw her head out again(continues on next page)- Collector
