    water is poured in in order to lower the temperature.
    The butter is lifted of the milk into a butter tub by means of butter spades. Then it is thoroughly washed. Salt is then added. The salt is mixed through the butter with the spades.
    My parents usually churn.
    Strangers who come in during churning always help because they are said to "take" the butter if they do not take a dash.
    Churning takes from twenty minutes to half an hour.
    Buttermilk is used for baking purposes and for drinks for calves and young pigs.
