- HerbsElderberry makes a good ointment to heal a burn. The bark has to be scraped off and the green substance underneath has to be boiled along with cabbage and butter. It is then strained and when it cools it is quite firm.
Ivy is good for dye. If one has any faded black cloth ivy leaves will make it pure black if the cloth is boiled with the leaves.
