   I Young men of a true Irish nation, who follow the tricoloured fold Come, join in sincere lamentation and mourn for the proud and the bold; For it's only a pitiful story and its equal to bloodshed and tears Like stars in the realms of their glory shine the names of our brave Volunteers It occurred on a morning in Springtime when all Nature it's charms did unfold When those brave boys came down from the mountain their number been thirteen all told. II They had been out for a day's recreation and of danger were little afraid But, for the just cause of their country they were followed
