Date: May 1938Since about the year 1800 a story has often been repeated of a little pot of gold being hidden in a briar fence between the town lands of Aughalustia and Rooskey, Ballaghaderreen. On one occasion the story says that the two men namely Callaghan and Cunningham of Ballaghaderreen got their hands on a leprechaun near this spot. They enquired where he had his treasure hidden and he pointed to this fence and also to a briar where the pot of gold was hidden.
