- Years ago, the old people had a lot of cures for diseases in people. When a person would have a tooth-ache the old people would tell them a cure, or for the whooping-cough, measles, consumption and other diseases, they would tell them a cure also,
The cure for the whooping cough is to give a piece of food to the sick person that a ferret would leave after him and then the person would be cured. The cure for a tooth-ache is to put a boiled onion into a sock and put it to the tooth-ache and then it would be cured.
