was given as a fortune either.
Marriages took place in the houses long ago but hardly any of the present people remember it.
Wedding feasts were always held on the marriage and straw boys generally visited them. They dressed in long old-fashioned clothes, high hats and plaits of straw down their back. They used to bring their own music with them and the people always looked forward to their coming. They never took drink at weddings.
The crowd of straw boys would appoint a captain over them and he would direct them while they danced and enjoyed themselves.
