- (continued from previous page)The forge is made of iron but it has a wooden door.
Teresa Hoare. Drummingmore, Ruskey, Dromod - There are a lot of forges in this parish namely, Hoare's, Bracken's, Kerrigan's and Jimmy Feeney's. Hoare's forge is in Ruskey. Bracken's in Knockhall. Feeney's in Derra. Bracken's forge is between two cross-roads. The forge is roofed with iron and a hole on one end of the roof and a chimney pot placed on it to let out the smoke. The fire is up high off the ground built with stones and sand. The bellows is at the back of the fire and is worked up and down to blow the fire. The smith has a tub of water which he cools the iron and tools.
