    Tradition tells that this treasure is safeguarded by a bird and that whoever finds the treasure will lose one eye.
    Lights are very often seen in this place - several people have seen them. The people living on the other side of Lough Ree have frequently seen them.
    About half a mile from the Gardenstown House a Fort which is situated in Gardenstown also, is supposed to be very rich in treasures. None of them have ever been found although people have often dreamt of them. Animals are guarding them and to get those you have to chance death or if not an impediment will be upon you for life.
    No body in this district is that greedy for money as to chance either.
