- Long ago there was an old catholic church in the townland of the abbey a short distance from the abbey school. A small part of the ruins where it was built is still to be seen.
There was an aisle and three galleries in it and a thatched roof. Mass was said every Sunday morning there by a priest who lived near the place.
It was very convenient to the country people and very few of them are living now that attended it. It was closed.(continues on next page)
