- After the Famine there was Cholera and other diseases round here, and a great lot of people died. Sometimes the whole family used to be down with sickness and there was no one left to look after anyone else that was sick.
Sometimes it was hard to bury all the dead people or to get coffins for them. There were three fields in Feeragh called "Moinin Cruinn", and the coffins used to be heaped up on top of each other and left there waiting to be buried. Sometimes there would be ten or twelve piled up together. These three fields belong to Thomas Somers, Tullaghan, P. McDonnell and Thomas Lyons, Bracna.- Collector
