- There once lived a family in Portrun. They used to be making poteen whiskey. They used to make it under the ground. The guards heard that they were making it and they came round by the Shannon from Gailey. A man by the name of Killion saw them coming and he ran to tell them that the peelers were coming. One of the men went down in the ground to where the poteen was. When he was there for some time he thought he heard the peelers going away & he heard his mother coming to call him. So he put up his head and he asked were the peelers gone. Who did he see but the peelers. One of them said "No, we didn't go yet." So he took the whole family and brought them to jail.
