  1. About one hundred years ago there was a hedge-school in Rath which is about two miles from this school. Mr Timothy was the school master. He was a very good teacher. He spoke Irish but taught through English. He had many pupils both boys and girls. He lived in the district in which he taught. He was also a Land Surveyor and he surveyed the land for many people.
    There was another hedge-school in Laragh which is about two miles from this school. Mr Flanagan who was a native of Ballinaheglish Co Roscommon taught there for sometime and afterwards he taught in Drimatemple National School.He was also a Surveyor and he taught the pupils in the locality how to survey land.
