  1. When a boy or girl decide to get married the matter is borught about in an apparently careless way at first just to see how the question will be taken by their parents or their elders. If all goes well a certain day on which they will meet is appointed
They come to the nearest town and talk the question over and if satisfied the day of the marriage is arranged.
When the match is arranged there is a certain amount of money given as a fortune.
Sometimes stock such as young pigs, calves
etc. is given to those who are poor and by degree the fortune is paid.
Very seldom people get married in Lent. Most people get married between Christmas and Lent.
The month of May is considered an unlucky month in which to get married.
    It is an old saying
    "Marry in May
    You'll regret the day.
