- Clothes made Locally
There is only one tailor in this parish or district.
His name is Mr. James Reilly , and he resides in Kilteevan.
He works in his own home but he never goes round from house to house as was done long ago.
The tailor uses fine serges, coarse serges, and tweeds in making suits and overcoats for men.
The tailor uses a sewing-machine but it is a good deal bigger than the ordinary sewing-machines.
He wears a big thimble without a top.
A great number of shirts are made in the homes.
These shirts are generally made of cotton, though sometimes linen is used for this purpose.
We have table-linen and sheets made from flax that grew in this district.(continues on next page)- Collector
