  1. Linen:
    Was made in Ballyline (Baile lin). Flax was grown in the district. When ripe it was pulled, then buried in a bog hole for 3 weeks. Then it was taken home and hammered out and sent to the weaver.
    Table-cloths, shirts, collars and roped were made from the flax.
    Candles:
    Some families who lived near "The Lough" made candles. Rushes were cut and dried. Then they were dipped in lard, again and again, until they were as thick as an ordinary candle. There were two rushes in each candle.
