    manure. Downey refused. During the night a storm arose, & the sand was either washed out to sea or up on the land - the strand was bare in the morning.
    Coincidental perhaps but true. The fields adjoining the strand are still covered with sand in many places to a depth of about 6 ft., yet a shovel-full cannot be got on the strand which is now "Tráigh na gCloch", i ndáiríribh.
    Old men still living saw "traps" played on the sand there.
