    Long ago there was a man living in Eyeries.

    told his daughters to get up because it was ten o' clock. The reply he got was. that it was only nine o' clock, in the clock. Their father answered them and said, "Om bríatharsa féin if it is only nine o' clock in the clock it is ten o'clock on the slat of the door". The girls then got up and looked at the clock and it was just ten o'clock.
    This story occurred about thirty years ago. This man lived about five miles to the north of Castletown Bere, near the village of Eyeries, in a place called Gurteen.
