    During the famine, there was a family living near the village of Eyeries, and they were dying of hunger.

    He thought perhaps this would keep the children alive, but when they eat it they were not strong enough to bear the strength of it, and they died the same as before. When this failed, he used to go to the strand and fish all the small fish he could and bring them home in a "pannier" or shut basket and give them to the children to eat. It was no good, and in the end they all died and himself died after them.
