    will equal this gloomy Pass. The separation of the mountain at either side is only just sufficient to afford room for a road of moderate breadth, with a rugged channel at one side for the waters which in the winter season rush down from the high road.
    The place is well calculated to awaken in the mind vivid and picturesque recollections of times when Creaghadoir and Bonnoght, Kern(?) and Gallowglass, Tory and Rapparee, swept through the encumbered Pass driving their prey of lordly cattle down the defile - times when were heard the hostile shouts of the wild O'Sullivans and the O'Learys, their fierce hurrah
