the well is situated in a field past which murmers the Sullane,on its winding way to join the Lee at Macroom. The entrance to the well is from the roadway when, having past through the stile, a gravel pathway, bounded by overhanging trees leads one to a small oval pool. This is the well. It is enclosed on all sides and on the top, by rocky dome- like arch. On the eastern side, however there is an aperture through which the people may enter and fill their bottles with the hallowed water. There are stone ledgers round the brink, too, where pilgrims kneel and pray.
