The following notes are taken from a Scrap Book of a prisoner names M. Fitzgerald...

    (continued from previous page)
O’er the scene of his operations,
Red blood marked his every trail.
    He was an “Irregular Stater”
A real Black and Tan in Cork Jail.
One morning we caught him out napping,
While washing his face with his paw.
    We formed a drumhead courtmartial,
And “tried him according to law”.
On the charges preferred against him,
The Court was convinced of his guilt,
    And sentenced him to deportation,
For ever from blanket and quilt.
With stoical good grace he accepted,
That “judgment” pronounced on him then.
From us, from the dock he was taken,
    For ever and ever, Amen.

    In memory of Liam Lynch.
In a sunny April day, when the sunbeams dancing gay,
Shed down their golden rays o’er Aherlow,
Mid the rifles sickening din, Liam Lynch and his brave men,
Were surrounded in the Glen of Aherlow.
