Most of the old house were built of mud, straw, and water. In one other field the one chimney did the two houses.
When the night fell candles were lit. These candles were made by killing a cow and getting the lard and fat. It was put on the fire to melt. When melted it was made into six candles.
There was a pole in the middle of the chimney. It was on these poles the pots were hung.- Collector
