the head with a piece of straw.
The next thing a man wants when he is thatching is scollops. When a man proposes thatching he has to go to a wood to get rods from which he makes scollops. Then the next thing he has to get is a ladder and start to thatch. First he cleans off all the old thatch of the house and then he puts up the straw and puts the "bobs" on on top. He has a mallet with which he hammers the "bobs" into position. He continues like this until he has all the house done. When he has all done he evens off the thatch at the "eaves".
