- My Father is a farmer and therefore he sows potatoes. About three acres is sown under potatoes each year. He sows six different varieties every year.
My Father prepares the ground by ploughing harrowing and opening drills. The ground is not manured in any way before being turned up.
The majority of the potatoes are sown in drills especially in bog. The drills are made with a plough and two horses. In the olden times wooden ploughs were used. I never saw a spade made at home. We always buy them in the shops.- Collector
