- My Father is the owner of our farm, and he sows potatoes. We have a fair amount of land, we keep some for grazing, and sow two acres of potatoes. He sows the same amount every year. My Father always prepares the ground.
The land is ploughed first; then harrowed and then drills are made afterwards the manure is added. We nearly always have drills in upland and ridges in the bog. The drills are made with the plough, and the ridges are made with a spade.
Long ago all wooden ploughs were used. People who own bog always use wooden ploughs, for drilling in the bogs. We never got a spade made at home, we always buy it in a shop.- Collector
