He promised them employment in a brick yard near the town
To which they were conducted and their names were taken down
He brought them to an ail house and called for drink go leor
I am sure such entertainment they got before.
And when he thought he had drunk
He thus to them did say
    You listed now all soldiers
    To defend your country
    The looked at one another
    One of our heroes said
Tis not to list that we came here
    Out to America
    3.
But to labour for a livily hood
    As many did before
And that is the reason why we left the lovely shamrock shore.
Twelve English lads all dressed in soldiers cloths
    Came in without delay.
    And said prepare by Irishboys
    That was to go away
Here is one of our officers
    Who listed ye complete
Ye did not try for to resist
    We cannot longer wait
Our Irish boys got to their sticks
