The Bantry players were dressed in blue football jerseys, white short pants and football boots. The ball used was a size five, hand sown twelve panelled football. Goal-posts were used at one end of the field and two coats marked the goals at the other end.About six years ago Street League matches were played in Bantry, for the "Slater Cup." The teams which participated were Milrock, Barrack Road and the Quay and Main Street. The cup was eventually won by the Quay team. About eleven years ago a match was played in the Town Park, Bantry, between Glengarriff and Durrus. The former team winning by some points. Handball is rarely played in this district. Bowl-playing was a favourite sport in this district in former times, and it is still carried on in the district.About twenty years ago a match was played between Mealagh and Kealkil. It was played in a four acre field owned by Mr. Crowley and adjoining Skahanagh Road. Fifteen men played on each(continues on next page)
