- (continued from previous page)lived in Laughadireen [?], a townland about one mile and a half east of Bantry. His name was Jeremiah Healy. He lived in a small thatched house. He was a very strong man and it was very easy for him to lift heavy loads. He was also a great fighter. He often fought two men together and beat them.
He also lifted heavy stones that two other men could not lift. He hurled rocks from place to place. There was a man named John Minehane lived in Coomleigh. He lived in a thatched little house. He was very strong. He once fought two men together, and he thought he would beat them but they beat him. He threw a stone from Shandrum to Cappanabowl [?] and it fell on a grave.
On top of "Cnoc Eoghain", there are three heaps of earth, each holding a half ton. It is said that a man named Diarmuid took three shovels of earth out of the hill and placed them on top of the hill. Long ago there was a woman threw a stone from Adrigole to Droumclough and it is till to be seen there.- Collector
