    The Mealough Winding Stream
    'Twas in the autumn season I rambled from my home. Through hills and dales and valleys fair intended for to roam.
    I tripped along a valley fair where beauteous it did seem.
    By meadows and green cornfields by the Mealough winding stream.

    Nell Flaherty's beautiful drake
    My name it is Nell, Quite Candid I tell
    I live in Colehill, I never deny.
    I had a large drake, which true to relate.
    Which my grandmother left me when she was to die.
    He was handsome and sound, he weighed twenty pounds.
    The universe around, I would roam for his sake.
    But some wicked savage, to grease his white cappage
    Murdered Nell Flaherty's beautiful drake.
    May his door have no latch, may his house have no thatch
