- Rope MakingThe ropes which were used long ago were not like the ropes at present. They were made of hay or straw or grass. When they were making these ropes two were required. One would hold a stick in his hand about a foot long and he was twisting this stick round while the other person would be making the rope. When they were thatching their houses these were the ropes they used and and they were known as sugane ropes. These ropes are used at present but they are not so common as they were long ago.
