- [written by a standard V pupil]How Mrs O'Donoghue's milk was carried away by witchcraft. :-Once upon a time there lived a wealthy family named Donoghues not far from Rathmullen, and some distance away there lived another family named Doghertys. The two families had good cows, but the Donoghues had a Kerry cow which gave more milk and better butter than the other cows.Grace Dogherty, a young girl came out one night to Mrs Donoghue's door while she was milking the Kerry cow, with the queerest request, "will you let me milk your Kerry cow", "and why do you ask to milk my Kerry cow, Grace", inquired Mrs Donoghue, "Oh, just because you are so busy and I would like to help you." "Thank you, Grace, but I will not let you milk my Kerry cow, for I can do my own work, and I will not trouble you to milk her."(continues on next page)
