    Heroes:-
At the fight at Stoball Hill, Ballydehob, a man whose name was O'Driscoll, father of the famous mower, proved himself a hero when he compelled the English soldiers to flee, by firing a stone at one of them, which was his only aminition, and in doing so, he badly wounded his opponent.

    Story-tellers:-
The best story-tellers were Mr. E. Driscoll and Mr. T. Burke, Dreenlomane. Their favourite stories were accounts of sights of former days, and accounts of local history.
