- When there is a sheen on rocks it is a sign that we shall have rain soon. When hills and houses look near it is a sign of rain. When the fog goes east on Mount Gabriel is is a sign of fine weather and when it goes west it is a sign of rain. If the dust on the road commences to whirl it is a sign of rain. Another sign of forthcoming rain is when the soot falls. The crickets sing on the hearth before it rains. White fog on the hills and country-side is a sign of fine weather.
