    He had a fine whitethorn "couple" to put in the house, and the neighbours came to persuade him not to put it in as it wasn't lucky. Nothing would satisfy Taidhgín only to put it just over where the bed would be, and he fixed it there. Nothing ever happened of course.

    It was thought to be wrong to eat the proimpín of a fowl. If you did you would stop growing.
    Proimpín = the fleshy nub on which the tail feathers grow.
    If a house is built in a field which has been tilled it mustn't be placed "crosta na crithe" - That is it must be placed lengthwise with the ridges.
