    The chimney breast was supported by two long narrow flags projecting inward from the gable wall about 5 feet from the ground and four of five feet apart.

    The floor was of white earth beaten hard.
    The house was divided into two parts by a partition formed of a cupboard and a dresser between which was the doorway. The door was hung on the cupboard.
    Some people had a cúb and a dresser forming the partition.
    The living room was the one which gave on the open, and the other was the sleeping-room. In the kitchen there was usually a "settle bed", which formed a seat by day.
