- (continued from previous page)used by the fishermen, we find the ruins of the fishermen’s houses. There is one to be seen at Dirk and Beal a Chuain, but the local men will tell you that there were rows of houses there when the fishing was good about 50 years ago. These men and their families emigrated when the fishing failed, or else the took cottages and worked as casual labourers.
