My grandfather Patrick madden of Lehina, has an old spinning-wheel.

    (continued from previous page)
as well as it did about 30 years ago when it was last used. The wool was got off the sheep. My grandmother, Margaret Madden, used to make the thread. The thread was taken to the weaver, OLeary of Dunworley. Suits, blankets and wrappers (báiníní) were made. The band of the wheel is made of larch and the rest of deal.
The wool used to be wound around the wheel and the person that was spinning had to keep the wool stiff in the hand while turning the wheel. When the thread was made it was wound around spindles and made into balls about a stone weight.
There is another spinning-wheel in Cal McCarthy's house in Lehina.
