- Bread used be made on a griddle. A griddle was a round plain piece of iron. It had two "ears" on it. It used be put on a stand over the fire; the cake was put on the griddle, and was baked with coal or cipíní. The cake was turned and when one was baked another was ready to be put on.
In my father's young days, they used to go for turf to Lucas's bog.To the west around Leap - a keeler of stirabout and sour milk used be sent to the men to the Bog.
