  1. There lived in Shippool at one time a family named Herrick, who were "priest-hunters". In the lawn there was a withered tree, and it is said that a priest was hanged on it. When the tree was cut down, it would not burn.

  2. The old Catholic School of Innishannon, was situated where the new school is now built. The teacher's name was Moore. One of the pupils still lives in the person of Mr. Thomas Murphy, Knockmullane. Innishannon.
