    This is the way the pit is made a trench is dig two feet to nine inches deep and the potatoes are put into this. They are clamped 3 ft. high
    There are green rushes put outside them and the earth is dug all round them and it is shaped like a diamond
    Then briars and rushes are put on this to keep out the rain and they are turned at Christmas and are brought home.
    Some people bring them home in bags and more bring them home in [?]. They are either left in bags or are spread on the floor of a store.
