- There are many buildings in my locality which were constructed in ancient times, some of which are now in ruins and more in a fairly good state of preservation.
Our local Castles such as Blarney, Dripsey, Carrig-a-Drohid are the biggest and perhaps the most important buildings that remain to the present day. These Castles as well as many others were built by an Irish Clan of the McCarthys. They are situated in exceptionally beautiful surroundings. Besides the buildings that were formerly erected by the clans we also find some built by local men. A good example of these are the buildings known as "Leaders Tolly". These buildings are situated in a picturesque spot about half a mile from Kilcolman in the parish of Aghabullogue.
