- The last severe storm we had was about eight years ago. Of a Sunday evening it held for about two hours. Haysheds were toppled to the ground and houses were stripped and any amount of harm done through the country.
We do not remember the night of the Big Wind as it was not in our time.
We had a very severe thunder storm in this country about thirty years ago. There was a lot of harm done. There were two lives lost in the Barrachauring mountain coming from the bog and the third man was knocked senseless but he recovered. David O'Callaghan and Champion Leary were killed and Denis O'Callaghan injured. A great deal of cattle were killed also. It struck a house in the Kilmartrin district and shook it to the ground and carried slates three hundred yards off the Roof and(continues on next page)- Collector
