    the rest of Ireland. These hounds were very smooth and the Irish name for them was "cú mín".
    A holy well still remains in Cummeen and all the old people say that it was from this well, which was blessed by saint Cummeen, the townland got its name.

  2. There is only one holy well in this district. It is situated in the townland of Lower Kilmartin. It is called after Saint Bartholomew, and is locally known as "Saint Batts well".
    Many people perform rounds there. They generally go there on a Friday and Sunday, and the following Friday again. They say certain prayers, and drink some of the well water, and rub more of it to the affected part.
