- Long ago Saint Lactean's well in Knockarourke Donoughmore was visited by a great number of people on a certain day. Rounds were paid and the people drank of the water. On one occassion a terrible fight took place and blood was spilled into the holy well. That night the well removed to Grenagh.
There is also a holy well in Cummeen and a hawthorn tree grows over it. This tree is said to have been planted by the saint Cummeen, it has been rooted several times and planted in a different place, but a tree of the same shape grows there quickly again.
It is said that one night a woman came there for water and she saw a man dressed in a strange habit.- Collector
