    and salt. It is wet with hot water and is then put into an oven and left there for a half-an-hour.
    A "Johnny-cake" is made by mixing fine meal coarse-meal and bran together with flour and salt and is then baked for forty minutes.
    Wheat and barley were extensively grown in Ireland and the wheat was sent to the mill, Curragbower, but this is closed down since last year. The wheat was ground and brought home and used for bread.
